Altrusa is an organization of professional, executive, and business persons. It brings together members from a wide variety
of career fields and occupations, who work together to assist human needs and improve the quality of life through service
projects and programs.
Our Purpose
The purpose of Altrusa International, Inc. is to promote better communities through service by an international network
of people with diverse backgrounds and experiences. In Brookings, our major focus is literacy, but our projects also
include support of the Domestic Abuse program, ADVANCE, dialysis unit, etc. The major literacy projects include: BHS scholarships,
minigrants to Brookings County teachers, etc.
